Team ProMotion hosted a track day at Summit Point Main on Monday, May 10, 2004.  It was my first time at Main on the ZX-6RR, and also my first time there in two years. Unfortunately, TPM overbooked, and we only got two sessions before lunch, as there were four groups; two Blue (Advanced). That being said, the track was is worse shape than I remembered. Mainly there were tar snakes and some kind of sealant in turns 3 and 7. I still had fun, and posted a 1:27.69. I think 1:25's are in reach, even with the stock suspension.

First session: Tire pressures are set to 31/31, and feel fine. I have to learn my way around the track again. It's warm, but I get no lap times yet. After the session other riders talk about how the session felt fast. I have to work on my passing skills.

Second Session: Went out with Steve. Out of the kindness of his heart he waited until turn 2 to pass me. Best time; 1:30.21

Third Session:  First session after lunch. No lap times again. Had fun, though.

Fourth Session: Best time 1:28.58. Mike Fitzpatrick went sailing past me like I was standing still.

Fifth Session:  Mary got the bump and rode with us. I wound up in front, with her directly behind me. I was going to take it easy, but then everybody can see how slow you are. I decided to check out. My best time of the day was recorded in this session; a 1:27.69.

Conclusion: I have a bit of work to do, but the bike is not holding me back. It has a very narrow powerband, so I'll have to learn to shift better.
