Track Days

Well, I started track riding in 1987, at the California Superbike School. I took the class at Watkins Glen. It was three years later when I got my next track experience, which was my only time racing. I took WERA's rider school and rode three sprint races in a weekend on a leased Katana 600. Well, all I can say is I didn't fall and I didn't finis last (of those still running.) Finances got tight, so I had to give up that dream for a while, anyway.

In 1991, while having my bike serviced at Cycle World one of the salesmen told me of a shop in Herndon, Virginia renting Summit Point raceway for its customers. A few phone calls later I got a slot in one of their track days. The rest, as they say, is history.

One thing hasn't changed, and that's the support of my mom. She has been to all but two track days in the last 12 years. She encouraged me to get my first bike, as well as encouraging me to take classes to learn how to ride it. Thanks Mom. See you at the next event.
