I sold my ZX-9 to Jan, a fellow eSportbiker in February of 2004. Three weeks later it was stolen. Here's what we know, quoted from Jan.

What happened? On Saturday Mar 6, three black guys stole my ZX-9R which was parked in front of my apartment building. One neighbor saw them pulling the bike into a light blue Plymouth caravan and then quickly driving away. Based on the witness account, the bike was stolen only about 30 minutes after I saw it for the last time (it happened around 5:30pm). I discovered the theft the next noon and reported everything to the police and insurance company.

Well, sort of  Police found the bike on Sunday Mar 7th, but it took the information (a letter!!!) until Friday to arrive. So today I picked up the bike from the towing company.
